I will challenge the history of painting through a digital format.
I will be creating a moving painting inside a traditional framed canvas.
One of my paintings, whites only for example will transform itself into an animated world that the viewer will be able go inside. The viewer will fly through the piece to explore the painted world moving past the many layers of paint to move further inside 3-d space. In between the layers the viewer will encounter animated text that will fly by. The text is the thought process of the artist that he used when he created the piece. Scenes of the artist working will fade in out of view. They are the labor that went into the work. Afterwards the onlookers will pause in the middle of the painting to take in a scene of serene landscape created out of paint. The landscape is the artist emotions and feelings about the painting. Then the viewer will pass through the 3-d space back into a 2-d space seeing the piece as a whole again. The animation will loop back onto itself continuously. Painting animation will be viewed by the audience by being projected onto a canvas.
The purpose of the piece is to challenge traditional ideas of how a viewer views and interact with a painting.
